Journal sources say, the company plans to release a new smartphone which is capable of downloading and playing Playstation games.
In addition, plans for a device that combines a netbook, e-reader, and PSP are underway. The new product is designed to compete against the Apple iPad and similar devices.
As part of Chief Executive Howard Stringer’s turnaround plan Sony plans to distribute movies, television shows, music, and games to these devices via the Sony Online Service.
While the company has made progress in cutting costs and streamlining its production; it has not delivered a game changer product to tie in their online service and help move the company forward.
Hopefully, Sony will be able to build a worthy rival for Apple’s iPad. This would push Cupertino to innovate further with consumers winning out in the end.
On top of the building, they used a saw to cut through several inches of rubber and insulation, then sliced a 3-foot-wide square in the metal roof.
Once inside, the burglars dropped 16 feet to 10-foot-tall racks — avoiding contact with the floor, where motion sensors would have set off an alarm. They snatched the notebooks from the racks, then went back out through the roof.
Avoiding store security cameras by choosing a spot where the cameras were obscured by advertising banners, the thieves managed to grab $26,000 in laptop computers and departed down a 3-inch gas pipe that runs from the roof to the ground outside the store.
“High level of sophistication,” said Detective James Ryan, a police department spokesman. “They never set off any motion sensors. They never touched the floor. They rappelled in and rappelled out.”
Employees discovered the missing laptops when they arrived to work this morning.

Analyst Katy Huberty expects Apple to introduce a new model in June that will be economically friendly to even more consumers.
“We expect Apple to launch new iPhones in June that offer both a lower total cost of ownership and new functionality, potentially including gesture-based technology,” she wrote.
Huberty is bullish on Apple’s stock and optimistic about the iPad.
“We expect Apple to ship its first iPad and announce additional content deals in late March to better than expected demand,” Huberty wrote. “We see the iPad targeting the sub-$800 consumer notebook market which equates to 30M annual units just in the US (120M globally).”

Ending months (years?) of rumors, Apple today officially unveiled their tablet computer named the Apple iPad. During a January 27 2010 Apple Event, Apple CEO Steve Jobs called the iPad “way better than a laptop, way better than a phone”.
The iPad weights in only 1.5 pounds, which is currently lighter than any netbook, and comes in at 0.5 inches thin. The device also includes a 9.7-inch IPS display (looks 4:3?). Internally, the iPad includes a 1GHz Apple-built ARM A4 processor which includes both the CPU and graphics chip.
On the outside, the device includes a Home Button, volume rocker, silent switch, speaker, microphone, 30-pin connector, headphone jack, SIM tray, and sleep/wake button.
Storage on the iPad comes in three capacities; 16, 32, and 64GB flash SSD. The device also gets approximately 10 hours of battery life (watching video) and a whopping month of standby time. Users also get 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
The iPad also comes with a 3G data connection. The data plans in the USA with AT&T, which have no contract, will be $14.99 for 250MB per month or an unlimited data plan for $29.99. International carrier plans, such as Canada, will not be announced until June/July 2010. The 3G version of the iPad is also unlocked and supports GSM micro SIM.
Navigation of the iPad is practically identical to the iPhone/iPod Touch, in which reading and viewing media is done as seamlessly as on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
Like many of Apple’s other devices, the iPad includes iCal, Safari (no flash?), Email,
Address Book, Maps, and iTunes for music, TV shows, podcasts, and, movies. YouTube is also included with high-definition streaming content.
On the iPad App Store, the device can run “virtually every one of these apps, unmodified, right out of the box.” Apps can be run either very small, 1:1 pixel, or in the center of the screen. Moreover, apps can also “pixel double” and run in full screen, in a low resolution mode.
The iPad further includes an accelerometer and built-in compass. The device also has an included orientation sensor for moving between landscape and portrait views.
The virtual keyboard on the iPad covers half of the screen when holding the iPad in landscape, which is similar to how the keyboard acts on the iPhone/iPod Touch.

In case you ever doubted his feat, or you simply wanted to recreate for sport, iPhone hacker extraordinaire George “Geohot” Hotz has released the exploit code he devised forproperly hacking the PS3. This should give any aspiring minglers full memory access, and while he’s only tested it with firmware version 2.4.2, he “imagine[s] it works on all current versions.” A guide might follow sometime in the future, he says, but if you’re really antsy to get your coding kicks, we wouldn’t wait up.
McGraw-Hill CEO Terry McGraw has confirmed the Apple Tablet calling it “terrific” in a video interview with CNBC.“They’ll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the Tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable. So what you are going to be able to do now is we have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95% of all our materials that are in e-book format on that one. So now with the tablet you’re going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific.”
