This tutorial will show you how to jailbreak 3.1.1 firmware on both Mac and Windows, this guide will Unlock & Jailbreak iPhone 2G, Jailbreak iPhone 3G, and Jailbreak iPod touch 1G. - Backup all the files on your device
- Download your device’s firmware (Do not use Safari to download)
iPhone 2G (Jailbreak & Unlock)
iPhone 3G (Jailbreak)
iPod touch 1G (Jailbreak)
- While iTunes is running, put your device into DFU mode by following this guide:
Attach your device to your computer Turn the device off Hold power and home together for 10 seconds Release power but keep holding home until the computer beeps as a USB device is recognized
- iTunes will recongnize your device in recovery mode, hold down Shift for Windows or Option for Mac and click Restore
- Browse for the firmware you downloaded earlier
- Your device should be successfully jailbroken (and unlocked if on iPhone 2G)
My itouch 1G is already jailbroken with 2.1. Do I need to return it the the factory, un-broken setting before I jailbreak to 3.11?
