This tutorial will show you how to jailbreak 3.1.1 firmware on both Mac and Windows, this guide will Unlock & Jailbreak iPhone 2G, Jailbreak iPhone 3G, and Jailbreak iPod touch 1G.   • Backup all the files on your device
  • Download your device’s firmware (Do not use Safari to download)

iPhone 2G (Jailbreak & Unlock)
iPhone 3G (Jailbreak)

  • While iTunes is running, put your device into DFU mode by following this guide:
  • Attach your device to your computer
  • Turn the device off
  • Hold power and home together for 10 seconds
  • Release power but keep holding home until the computer beeps as a USB device is recognized
    • iTunes will recongnize your device in recovery mode, hold down Shift for Windows or Option for Mac and click Restore
    • Browse for the firmware you downloaded earlier
    • Your device should be successfully jailbroken (and unlocked if on iPhone 2G)
